There’s also a Cocktail Village at Festival Square with brands such as Hendrick’s Gin, Roku Gin, and House of Suntory, with the full line up to be announced in September.
Over 60 bars in Edinburgh are taking part in ‘Sip & Support’ campaign between 1st October – 30th November organised by Gary Anderson of Edinburgh Cocktail Week. Its aim is to support Edinburgh’s hospitality sector and help protect jobs as bars face tighter trading and social restrictions because of Covid-19.
Participating bars include House of Gods, Lady Libertine, Hawksmoor, The Lioness of Leith, Fingal, Raging Bull, Cold Town House, Tigerlily, the Rose Street Secret Garden, The Bon Vivant, Uno Mas, Harvey Nichols, Kin, Candy Bar, Malmaison, Nauticus, Tonic, Last Word Saloon and The Raeburn.
It will champion what’s happening in bars and venues around the city via the Edinburgh Cocktail Week social media channels and website to inspire customers to visit bars who are putting on special cocktail menus, laughing pop-ups and bar takeovers, and safely socialise with friends and family.
Said Gary, “These are extremely challenging times for the hospitality industry and unfortunately we have already seen a number of bars in Edinburgh fall victim to the Coronavirus pandemic. We feel it is our duty to use our platform and voice to support our colleagues as best, and responsibly, as we can, and we hope our campaign and the support of our followers will help save businesses and jobs.”
Edinburgh Cocktail Week 2020 has been postponed until Monday 11th – Sunday 17th October 2021. It was due to go ahead from Monday 12th – Sunday 18th October this year.
Said Edinburgh Cocktail Week’s Managing Director, Gary Anderson, “At this time, we are not confident physical distancing will have been lifted by October. Physical distancing drastically reduces the capacity of the participating bars, event venues and the Cocktail Village, which makes even a scaled-back festival impossible for us to deliver.”
Tickets for this year’s festival will be valid for next year and this requires no further action, with refunds available for those unable to make it.
To claim a refund, please go to the Citizen Ticket website and click ‘Apply for a Refund’ in the website footer. Refund requests must be made before 9th July 2020.
Edinburgh Cocktail Week is happening at over 70 bars across the capital from Monday 14th – Sunday 20th October.
New bars taking part this year include Cold Town House, Cask Smugglers, Smoke & Mirrors, The Barologist, Camera, Damm 27 and The Garden, as well as returning bars The Refinery, Harvey Nichols, Tigerlily, Tonic, Copper Blossom, The Voodoo Rooms and Brewhemia. This year also sees the introduction of non-alcoholic cocktails to the festival in partnership with Seedlip.
The Cocktail Village will again act as the social epicentre of the week-long festival, filled with 19 pop-up bars, masterclasses, live music and entertainment.
Pop-up bars this year include Edinburgh Gin, Belvedere Vodka, Patron Tequila, Johnnie Walker, William Kerr’s Gin, Poco Prosecco, Highland Park, Eden Mill, Pilot Beer, Lindores Abbey, Absolut Vodka, Cask Smugglers, Pickering’s Gin, Smokehead, the Herringbone Horsebox, Darnley’s Gin, Grey Goose Vodka and a special ‘Temple of Rum’ bar from The Pop Up Geeks and Don Q rum. There will also be a new outdoor street food area with heaters and a stretch tent to create a cosy hangout space to relax and enjoy food from Norelli, The Garden Hatch, The Butcher Boy and Mac Man.
Organiser, Gary Anderson, said, “I’m delighted to see Edinburgh Cocktail Week back for its third edition this Autumn with our biggest and most exciting lineup yet. Since launching in 2017 we have continued to grow the festival and visitor experience by adding new features, pop-up spaces and experiences across the city.
“This, along with the support of our amazing festival partners, has grown Edinburgh Cocktail Week into the biggest cocktail festival outside of London, attracting over 15,000 local and international cocktail lovers.. Personally, I’m really excited by this year’s line-up, especially the new Cocktail Forest space at Festival Square, and I look forward to seeing the Cocktail Domes in action on the rooftop garden of The Glasshouse Hotel. I’m also proud to see the introduction of non-alcoholic cocktails to the festival, something we are delivering in partnership with Seedlip.’

This week – 15th to 21st October – is Edinburgh Cocktail Week.
This year’s expanded format sees the city-wide cocktail festival spread across seven days with 83 participating bars, a new Secret Spirits Study on Queen Street, and a huge Cocktail Village at Festival Square packed with 15 pop-ups bars, free masterclasses, live music and DJs.
Over 80 bars across the capital are taking part in next week’s Edinburgh Cocktail Week (30 more than last year) including Harvey Nichols, Tigerlily, Dragonfly, The Voyage of Buck, The Voodoo Rooms and The Grand Café, with each bar designing a unique Signature Cocktail.
This year also sees the introduction of a new Cocktail Village at Festival Square, which is free to enter for customers with a wristband. It is decorated in the style of an Autumn Garden, with live music and DJs to make visitors feel like they are at an outdoor festival, while being in the comfort of an enclosed marquee.
Organiser Gary Anderson said, ‘After 12 months of planning and organising, we’re excited to see Edinburgh Cocktail Week come to life and welcome everyone to our bigger, better event. There is so much to do this year between hoping around bars and discovering new tastes, to attending parties and masterclass, distillery tours and interactive challenges, or just hanging out in the Cocktail Village with your friends – there’s no experience like it in Scotland, so we say make the most of it and see you at the bar!’
Another new addition this year is ‘The Secret Spirits Study’ pop-up on Queen Street – a masterclass hub by day and underground bar by night, hosted by Wemyss Malts and Darnley’s Gin, with experiential masterclasses such as ‘Mixed Drinks Through the Ages’ which explores the past, present and future of cocktails through sampling and hands-on cocktail-making. ‘The Secret to Blending Whisky’ masterclasses take pupils on a laboratory style flavour tasting before crafting a personalised blend to take home. In the evening The Secret Spirits Study will transform into a hidden cocktail bar with a programme of bar takeovers with mixologists from across Scotland showcasing their skills to create £4 cocktails for wristband-holders to enjoy.
