Carling Prices Frozen in Scotland

The price of Carling Draught has been frozen by wholesaler Matthew Clark. The company signed a deal to distribute Molson Coors products to the trade in Scotland in September 2013 and this is the first announcement from the company since the deal. Des Gallagher, Managing Director of Matthew Clark (Scotland), said, “As part of our partnership with Molson Coors in Scotland, we are committed to supporting existing customers and continuing to drive the growth of Carling across the Scottish trade. We have exciting plans for the brand over the coming years and Matthew Clark will not be applying the Molson Coors wholesale price increase of £14.95 per barrel in Scotland during 2014.”
The news comes after all the other major brewers put up the prices of their best selling lagers. Tennent’s held their prices last year, but this year increased wholesale prices of draught lager by 2.2%.

No price increase for Carling in Scotland

Matthew Clark has announced that it will not be applying a price increase on Carling Draught in 2014. The company took over as Molson Coors distributor to the on-trade in Scotland in September, and this is the first significant announcement regarding the brand since then. Des Gallagher, (Managing Director) Matthew Clark (Scotland),said, “As part of our partnership with Molson Coors in Scotland, we are committed to supporting existing customers and continuing to drive the growth of Carling across the Scottish trade. We have exciting plans for the brand over the coming years and Matthew Clark will not be applying the Molson Coors wholesale price increase of £14.95 per barrel in Scotland during 2014. I’m sure that this will be welcome news for our customers across Scotland, and will hopefully provide much needed support in a difficult trading environment.”
All the other major brewers have put up the prices of their best selling lagers. Tennent’s held their prices last year, but this year increased wholesale prices of draught lager by 2.2%.

Innis & Gunn launch lager into on-trade

Innis & Gunn has celebrated its 10th birthday by launching an unoaked lager in the on-trade. Available on draught  Innis & Gunn Lager (4.6% ABV) uses native British ingredients with some Innis & Gunn flourishes.  It’s the first time the independent brewer has launched an unoaked beer under its umbrella brand, and will be the first release in a series of craft-brewed products intended by the company.

Dougal Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn, comments, “Innis & Gunn beers are pretty complex characters that most people like to take time to get to know.  They’re not light sessionable beers so I wanted to give our consumers a refreshing but flavourful lager that would deliver a really rewarding taste experience in the same way they’ve grown to expect through our oak-aged beers.”

Innis & Gunn Lager will initially be sold in 50 litre kegs and, from September/October, it will be available to the on and off-trade in bottles.  Enquiries should be made to sales@innisandgunn.com or Tel: 0131 220 7230.
