Punch invests in community pubs across Scotland

Pub operator Punch Taverns has now completed five investments across Central Scotland, creating over 30 new jobs in the process.

As part of the company’s overall commitment to invest £3m in Scotland, Punch has helped to fund refurbishment projects in pubs in Motherwell, Cambuslang, Grangemouth, Dunfermline and Kilbarchan.

Brian Davidson, Punch Operations Director for Scotland, said, “This much-needed investment across the central belt has ensured that vital community assets will be preserved for the future. It has also created jobs and given the regional economy a much-needed boost.

“All our pubs and bars are unique and we’ve worked closely with our publicans to make sure that refurbishments preserve their best features whilst providing additional facilities – from new sports offerings to home cooked pub food and entertainment – for local communities. We want our pubs to be at the heart of the villages and towns they serve and hope that this investment will preserve them for future generations.”

The investment includes a £145,000 refurbishment of the Electric Bar in Motherwell, £120,000 at the Kirkhill Bar Cambuslang, £268,000 at The Yeoman Dunfermline, £260,000 at Habbies Bar & Grill in Kilbarchan and £180,000 at The Dundas Grangemouth.

The Dundas Manager, Liam Baxter, said, “The Dundas has always had loads of potential and this investment has transformed it into a smart, stylish and welcoming pub that people can be proud of.”

Punch operates 230 sites across Scotland and is seeking publicans and hoteliers to run refurbished sites across the country. Interested candidates should apply to paula.bowering@punchtaverns.com
